The Start of Something New & Beautiful

Hello again readers!

As stated in my last entry against the show 'More to Love,' a show where they not only told the plus size women on the show they would not disclose their weight but did so anyway, but a show that completely degredates the ideal that bigger women, or bigger men, can date someone skinnier than they are, I was a bit frustrated.

I have a healthy, happy relationship with my boyfriend Kyle, and he's much skinnier than I am! So, a few things to go by for readers who think you can only date someone your own size.

1. Believe it or not "pick on someone your own size" doesn't really mean anything like it does in the movies, where the big bad bullies pick on those poor little kids. In the real world, people have been told this, led simply to believe that if you're a certain size, you've got to date someone close to that size yourself. If that were true, I'd be dating someone who was short, fat, and kind of annoying. :P

2. If you're a bigger person, like I myself am and like some of my readers are (don't get mad for me saying that, readers! I love you all!! :D), don't go by what media says or shows us. In all of those television sitcoms we watch, we see the fat guy get the hottest girl and if a woman on the show is bigger at all she ends up with a slob most of the time! DO NOT BELIEVE THAT'S HOW IT HAS TO BE!

I have NEVER dated a bigger guy, granted I've slept with one before, but we didn't date. The media leaves so much to the imagination. They harp on someone for gaining a healthy 5 pounds, they harp on pregnent women for gaining weight when there's another PERSON growing inside of them.

Fight back the media.

If you're out at the mall and see a skinny, Ambercrombie-esque hottie standing there that you think is hot, go talk to him! If you like a guy that's skinnier than you are, or bigger even! Ladies, give it a chance! I promise, not all guys are shallow.

There's a song I like to listen to, by Cute is What We Aim For, it's called "The Curse of Curves," and it's got some of my favorite lyrics in it.

"I've got the gift of one liner's/ and you've got the curse of curves..." -- Ladies, if you've got curves, use them! Play up your shape in a fun, flirty dress, find some high waisted shorts and show off those sexy legs! Buy a low cut shirt and go out on the town, let the girl's get some attention too!!

Your curves are not a curse, they are beautiful and natural and I garuntee you (as I've learned now from experience) they get you a lot more stares if you wear them with confidence. Learn what favors your shape, here are a few examples:

1. Watch out for dressing too loudly, clothing that is too bright and played up can always make your curves look a bit out of whack. You don't want to wear something too dull either, though, as it has the same effect. Find a balance. Work with your hair color, skin tone, eye color, and your own personal likes and dislikes, but don't wear too many bold patterns as those can be a risk you should not generally take.

2. More than anyone we have to be careful picking out dresses for important events and every day wear. We have to make sure they fit correctly and compliment our shape and not distort us as a beautiful person. We want to attract attention, and the photo below is NOT the kind of attention you want. Stay away from dresses like this, and colors like these!

3. Stay away from too-tight pants, as they will only make you uncomfortable and look bad too. Sure, your pants can be tight, but pants like this one anyone bigger than a size 6, generally doesn't look too fantastic! Sorry, but it is the truth.

Now onto the good stuff!!

4. If it's highwaisted, color block, or low cut, it will generally look good on a plus sized woman. This dress pictured below is a perfect example of how to look pretty, edgy, and pleasently plus sized! This dress plays down her fuller figure by drawing attention to her chest, which is perfectly acceptable for anything from going to class to going to a party, just try not to wear something THIS low cut to an interview!!

5. These women are up on a stage, wearing lingerie, fishnets, with big sexy hair, and check them out! This is a perfect example of how to dress sexy, be sexy, and believe in yourself. (The group is called The Glamazons) Take a cue from them and play up your sexy side, you may just get some smokin' attention from the hottie in the next dorm! :P

6. For swimwear, make sure you find something you are super comfortable in that looks chic, sexy, and clings in all the right places. Always try swimwear on before you buy it!

7. And last, but not least, formalwear for plus size women. This is the dress that I wore to a formal dance my boyfriend's fraternity hosted. I only spent around 100$ on the hair accessories, jewelry, dress, and shoes! (Found at WalMart, gojane.com, Payless Shoes). You can't see the very bottom of it, but you all get the jist of what it looks like. People actually complimented me, and that's something I'm not used to at formal events. I always feel so awkward, but when you're in a dress like this with people you love dearly around you, you feel like a million bucks. :] My boyfriend, as far as I know, liked it too, as I kept it a secret from him until the day of the dance!

So, readers, ladies, gentlemen, everyone! I hope you enjoyed this blog, I know it was a little all over the place, but I hope you at least got something from it.

To ANY size woman -- these fashion rules work for you too! Play up your shape, make some heads turn. :]

Love you guys!

Sincerely,
The Fat Girl

Hey, Jake Liebenow here! First thing that springs to mind: plus sized girls look simply stunning in dark-colored conservative dresses. I mean long and flowing ones, XD. Don't be afraid to ask for something plus sized if you do into a place that you perhaps deem for anorexics! You may be surprised with what you find! Besides, if they bitch and complain about it, you can bitch and complain in turn. You have the right to, and they can get fired over it. It all comes down to confidence, in that department!

i think you should change the picture on your blog.
this is a small detail i know but i think the one that is on your face book A.makes you look better (prettier, older, more legit) B. it would make the blog look nicer?

just some constructive criticism :)
