The Start of Something New & Beautiful

Saturday, August 1, 2009
So, I’m sure that you’ve either seen or heard about the new reality show called More to Love. It’s about plus size women who fight for the “guy of their dreams.” Except the “guy of their dreams” is in fact, another plus size person. A fat guy for fat women.

The Insult: I am proud enough of myself now to say that I am in fact a plus size woman. I am healthy, but I am by no means skinny, and do you want to know my secret? I’ve only dated one guy that was “fat” in my life. I am much more attracted to skinny men, and I get more compliments from the skinny boys than I do the bigger guys. A contradiction?
Only on television!

My problem is that this television show is making people watching, especially the younger generation, the ignorant, the mean, and those people that’re still trying to be the Queen Bees they were in High School believe the common misconception that fat girls can only date fat guys. So, here’s my dish, ladies and gents; my boyfriend, whom I love very much and who loves me back just as much, is SKINNY. Like, it’s almost a little ridiculous (I love you! ^^;) and heyyy…. Remember my blog title? Sincerely, the Fat Girl??

I’M A FAT GIRL!
I don’t generally date fat guys.

Dear television producers,
Stop being douche bags.

“More to Love” is not, in any real way, showing anyone who is plus size a compliment. I’d like to write to the idiots at the television station and let them know just how I feel, but really, what would that accomplish?

I wrote this because one, my boyfriend really thought I should. Even he’s claimed to be slightly offended by the show, and two, because who the hell cares what size someone is? If you’re in love, you’re in love. Big, small, short, tall, skinny, fat, whatever.

Give it a rest for Pete’s sake!!!

Sincerely,
The Fat Girl

Hey, it's Allison~~
But I hear ya. I've only heard about this show, I haven't seen much about it, and only some clips, and yes, I totally agree.
I just wish the world wasn't so..shallow? Maybe it's not the world, but the media. Yes, I wish the MEDIA wouldn't be so shallow. The world is full of arrogant pricks in the real world, we don't need them on the television.

But I'm rambling, and I'm sorry for it.

SiSicles it's Hannah :D

But yeah, I totally agree. There shouldn't be 'fat' dating shows and 'other' dating shows! It's the whole separate-but-equal thing all over again. I can kinda see where they're coming from trying to give bigger people a chance, but, dear sweet Media, you still get a big F for fail. It's offensive!

Thank you girls, for voicing your opinions and stepping onto your soap boxes beautiful and proud!

<3
I love you girls, and I agree completely with what you said. The media has GOT to stop putting negatives spins on things like weight and looks. We're all beautiful in some way!!

Dude, I can understand COMPLETELY were you are coming from. I'm 17, weigh about 180 lbs, and my boyfriend weighs around 120. And I'm USUALLY telling him to shush when he can't stop complimenting me on the way I look. He is so sweet, he doesn't even notice other girls.

Anyways, this is the first time I've ever seen or read this blog, but as far as I've seen, you've got the right idea. Kudos.

Thanks,
Leanne

Leanne,

Thank you SO much for commenting and telling me your story. :] I really appreciate that! It seems like we're in the same boat, my boyfriend is exactly the same way and you know what?

It's fantastic!
Big girls usually don't get the compliments we deserve because of the simple fact that we don't look like girls in Vogue, or on television shows.

But you know, girly, you're gorgeous. I think so, your man thinks so, and from the positive feedback I've gotten on this blog...

THE WORLD IS STARTING TO THINK SO! :D

<3

You go Leanne, you're amazing!
